ABOUT
Originally from Mendham, NJ, J. Justin Brubaker is a talented oil painter who has dedicated most of his life to the art form. Inspired by the works of the great Impressionists, he has developed his own unique style and palette by studying their masterful use of light and color. While primarily self-taught, Brubaker further refined his painting skills during his time at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, where he had the privilege of learning under the guidance of the esteemed Ellsworth Ausby. As a testament to his artistic prowess, Brubaker is also a proud member of the prestigious New Jersey Art Association.
More than 15 years ago, Brubaker's life took a transformative turn when his wife, Jill, introduced him to the awe-inspiring landscapes of Outer Cape Cod. Instantly captivated by the interplay of light and its ever-changing effect on the subjects, he fell deeply in love with the region. For Brubaker, the Outer Cape represents a place of tremendous natural power, where landscapes evoke emotions, stimulate imagination, and ultimately serve as a profound source of inspiration for his work. It is the simplicity of compositions, the masterful use of color, and the manipulation of light that Brubaker particularly cherishes in his artistic journey.
Through his expressive brushstrokes and keen eye for capturing the essence of a scene, Brubaker's oil paintings convey not only the visual beauty but also the profound emotional impact of the landscapes he explores. His artwork serves as a gateway for viewers to experience the same stirring emotions and connect with the power and beauty of nature that has inspired him throughout his artistic career.
